Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Sometimes when people tell you that a city is wonderful, normally you go to that city with high expectations and sometimes you come back disappointed. Well, this is not the case of Prague, one of the top travel destinations ever seen and for sure the city I would insert into my top 5 lists of cities to visit.

Anyway, if you want to visit it in 3 days, you have to walk quite fast.

Presentation of the Prague - Bratislava road trip

Saturday, April 18, 2015

Now I think it's time to talk a little bit about an incredible trip I had some years ago: the Prague - Bratislava road trip.

The difference between other road trips consists in the fact that here i did not drive any car, but I travelled via plane, train and bus. It can be similar to the USA East coast road trip since I got to a city, Prague, and left from another one by plane, Bratislava. The main difference is that I travelled by train and bus and not by car.

As usual this is the map designed via Scribble maps website - this way you can see.

Regarding the time, I spent around 4 days in Prague with a friend and then I travelled for other 5 days to reach the final destination, Bratislava. Since at that time I was living in Milan, I travelled to Prague from Milan and from Bratislava to Milan by plane.

On thr way to Bratislava, I stopped by three Unesco sites, that are Litomysl, Kutna Hora and a villa in Brno. I had the possibility to visit the two capitals and even had the time to visit some great castle ruins close to Bratislava.

To plan this trip I just had to look fot the Unesco sites along the road and then buy a nice guide about Prague: the Italian guide "Weekend a...Praga", (Ed. Giunti) with 4 great trip itineraries. For English speakers I would recommend the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Prague.

Other interesting travel guides I recommend are:

Moving to the Netherlands: what has changed during the last years

Sunday, February 8, 2015

Although here the crisis impacted less than other European countries ( like the Southern ones), even the Netherlands faced some problems because of the debt crisis that hit the entire Europe. Between the 2011 and 2013, there was a continuous economic dropdown, but as of the 2014 the trend has reversed.

The Netherlands have always had an exportation-based economy, but its economy had to face a weak internal consumption demand. According to the CBS, the Dutch statistic bureau, the unemployement rate has grown from 5,5% to the 8,8% and then dropped to the current level, that is 8.0% ( December 2014).

Viaggio in Olanda...e non solo!!!

Even if it is a solid country and also one of the most developed economies in Europe, it is clear how also here the job market has changed in the last years. It is not uncommon to hear that companies have to close and that people have lower income, but since the Netherlands economy is growing again (despite a modest 1,0% growth) this makes it one of the best destinations regarding the job market in Europe.

The Netherlands are still one of the best places to live in terms of quality of life and safety both in Europe and in the world for different reasons that you will discover in the next posts.
